Matt Hartman serves as the Acting Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). He previously served as the CISA Deputy Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity. As CISA’s senior career cybersecurity official, he is responsible for leading the agency’s mission to address the nation’s most significant cyber threats and vulnerabilities and to increase the security and resilience of U.S. critical infrastructure.
In this role, Mr. Hartman leads CISA’s efforts to secure and defend the Federal Civilian Executive Branch enterprise and U.S. critical infrastructure, including against the increasingly sophisticated cyber threats posed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Additionally, Mr. Hartman led CISA’s “Shields Up” campaign in the leadup to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and coordinated the U.S. Government’s response to the SolarWinds intrusion campaign.
Previously, Mr. Hartman served as the Acting Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity at CISA. Prior to this senior leadership position, he was an Associate Director who led CISA’s cybersecurity services portfolio, including the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program.
Mr. Hartman has served in various additional capacities, including the Director of Federal Network Resilience, Cybersecurity Counselor to the Secretary of Homeland Security, and Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications.
