Chemical-Terrorism Vulnerability Information (CVI) Information Collection 1670-0015

CFATS Announcement

As of July 28, 2023, Congress has allowed the statutory authority for the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) program (6 CFR Part 27) to expire.

This means that CISA cannot enforce compliance with the CFATS regulations at this time. This includes the collection of information related to the CFATS regulation. Therefore, CISA is currently not collecting information under the CVI Information Collection, OMB Control Number 1670-0015. If you have further questions, please contact us at CFATS@hq.dhs.gov.

CISA encourages facilities to maintain security measures. CISA’s voluntary ChemLock resources are available on the ChemLock webpages.

The Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) requires federal agencies to take specific actions before requiring or requesting information from the public. This includes posting notices informing the public about new programs and policies and seeking comments from the public through information collection requests (ICR), which are published in the Federal Register. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) manages this requirement and grants approval for requests of information.

These are the Federal Register notices and ICRs regarding the Chemical-terrorism Vulnerability Information (CVI) Information Collection 1670-0015.
