Intent: Provide proactive investment in resilience for communities so better prepared and remain resilient prior to a hurricane, flood or wildfire. Provide funds annually for hazard mitigation planning and projects to reduce risk of damage before a disaster.
FEMA’s two competitive mitigation grant programs (BRIC and Flood Mitigation Assistance) provide states, local communities, tribes and territories funding to address high-level future risks to natural disasters such as wildfires, drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, extreme heat, and increased flooding to foster greater community resilience and reduce disaster suffering.
