Billy Bob Brown Jr. Appointed as Assistant Director for Emergency Communications

Today, Director Christopher Krebs appointed Billy Bob Brown Jr. as Assistant Director for Emergency Communications at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

CISA enhances public safety interoperable communications at all levels of government and conducts extensive, nationwide outreach to support and promote the ability of emergency response providers and relevant government officials to communicate in the event of natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other hazards.

“Billy Bob’s experience in working with emergency communications stakeholders will enable our continued efforts to ensure CISA stakeholders have access to the full range of services within the Agency,” said Director Krebs. “Our emergency communications leadership will continue emphasizing quality customer service and excellence in technical expertise.”

Billy Bob is a longstanding member of CISA and previously served as Associate Director, Priority Telecom Services Sub-division and Program Manager of the Next Generation Networks Priority Service Phase 1 Program. Prior to this, Billy Bob served in several leadership roles within CISA.

Before joining the Department of Homeland Security in 2008, Billy Bob worked in the private sector supporting process improvement and the implementation of Lean Principles for the United States Air Force, and he served a 20-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantry Officer. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, has an MBA from Webster University and holds a certification as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute.
