Description

The Texas Volunteer Incident Response Team (VIRT) is comprised of volunteers that are experts in cybersecurity incident response. The Texas VIRT supports Texas agencies, institutions of higher education, and local government organizations in the event of a significant cybersecurity incident. 

Services provided: Incident response services.

Request Services and Volunteer

  • Criteria to Request Services:
    • Texas governor must declare a cybersecurity state of emergency.  
    • The VIRT can be activated if numerous local entities are impacted by the same cyberattack. 
  • Request Services:
  • Criteria to Volunteer: 
    • Must have experience as an incident response practitioner with expertise in mitigating cybersecurity incidents or have experience in information technology and project management. 
    • Must pass a background check. 
    • Must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
