Just So You Know Public Service Announcements
CISA and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued four public service announcements (PSAs) as part of their “Just So You Know” series, intended to reassure the public that while certain incidents on Election Day may result in minor disruptions, they will not fundamentally impact the security and integrity of our democratic process.
DDoS Attacks
Informs the public that DDoS attacks on election infrastructure, or adjacent infrastructure that support election operations, could hinder public access to election information but would not impact the security or integrity of election processes.
Ransomware Disruptions
Informs the public that while ransomware attacks against state or local government networks or election infrastructure could cause localized delays, they will not compromise the security or accuracy of vote casting or counting processes.
False Claims of Hacked Voter Information
Raises public awareness of attempts to undermine public confidence in the security of U.S. election infrastructure through the spread of disinformation falsely claiming that cyberattacks compromised U.S. voter registration databases.
Foreign Threat Actors Likely to Spread Disinformation
Raises awareness of the efforts posed by foreign threat actors to spread disinformation in the lead up to, and likely in the days following, the 2024 U.S. general election.
