GHS— The Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals– CISA Chemical SRMA Informational Webinar
Description
The GHS— The Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals– CISA Chemical SRMA Informational Webinar is a foundational voluntary training that provides an overview of the Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). GHS, adopted by the United Nations, is a globally relevant pictorial representation of criteria for the classification of health, physical and environmental hazards. GHS also specifies information that should be included on hazardous chemical labels and as safety data sheets (SDS. Participants will be able to identify the meaning of each of the 9 GHS symbols representing different hazard groups, understand the classes of chemicals and hazards within these groups, and gain awareness of examples within each GHS symbol group. In this training participants will review how to read a GHS label, identify GHS symbols on everyday products, and recognize location of GHS symbols within a chemical safety data sheet (SDS). Through awareness of the GHS and its respective pictograms the chemical sector and supporting sectors are able to understand potential chemical hazards regardless of the written language on the label or document, thus enhancing global chemical sector facility safety, security, and resilience while mitigating risk.
