The Suspicious Activity Recognition for Bombing Prevention Course provides public safety and security professionals with foundational knowledge to identify suspicious activity related to a facility/system or a planned or unplanned event. The course covers the introduction to the BOMBER acronym and an overview of baseline behaviors, operational indicators, materials acquisition and storage, bomb-building activities, elicitation, and response.

This one-hour Independent Study Training (IST) and Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) covers the following topics:

  • Identify and report improvised explosive device-related suspicious activity
  • Introduction to the BOMBER acronym 
  • Overview of baseline behaviors, operational indicators, materials acquisition and storage, bomb-building activities, elicitation, and response

Course Delivery Modalities:

1. This course is available as a self-paced IST.

Certifications & Accreditations

  • The Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for this course: 0.1 CEU. 
  • This course is nationally certified by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) organization for in-service Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST).
