A DHS worker taking protective bomb threat measures

The Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) Detection Course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to inspect for, identify, and/or respond to vehicle-borne explosive threats successfully and safely. 

This one-day Instructor-Led Training (ILT) covers the following topics:

  • Vehicle-borne explosive threat overview
  • Identifying vehicle-borne explosive hazards
  • Assessment of vehicles and occupant behavior
  • Vehicle inspection demonstration and activity

Certifications & Accreditations

  • The Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for this course: 0.7 CEU. 
  • This course is nationally certified by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) organization for in-service Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST).
